Hi Guys,
Sorry, but I have to be the bearer of bad news. They are not the Squats with
a new name.
As Part of my talks with Jervis and various others at GD2001 we covered the
squats / Demiurg ground. The Squats are dead is the base line. They no
longer exist in the warhammer 40K universe or its history. They are part of
the History of Games Workshop but not of 40K.
The Demiurg are a new race which was one of six designed when the call went
out for a totally new 40K race. The name but no more was apparently also
hinted at a long time ago in one of their "passing references". The Tau and
the Kroot were two of the other races designed. The decision could not be
made between the two so they did both as one force!
The Demi Urg have been given a Battlecruiser in BFG (what was formerly known
as the Fra'al vessel has been transferred to the demiurg) and will be
getting another ship at some point though that is all that is planned.
The point was stressed a million times that the Demiurg are not the Squats.
I think there's never going to be a re-surgence :( .
Sorry guys.
Cheers,
Paul "TuffSkull" T.
