The Necrons are machines, I can see them as being cold blooded... mainly
due to the lack of blood. There one overiding program would be not to harm
the slann though. So let them fire upon other Necron units, just not if it
is going to touch/affect/put at risk Slann units.

I agree on this! It should apply to everyone. But I dont think we should
go down that road, and I dont picture the slann an necrons as coldblooded
