Hi!
Good day Wes! Here are the answers:
Go to www.netepic.org
This is the Epicentre website, net epic's home page. All files
pertaining to epic are found there.
Once there, click on the link for "netepic", then click "army lists".
Once there you will notice a "doc and pdf" column for the actual rules,
then a third "html/army card" column. Click on that last columns link
according to the army of your choice. It will take you to the army card
download links.
Army selection, once you have the army cards is a breeze, no writing is
necessary since the army cards have all the information you need. Army
cards come in three types:
Company cards- these are larger sized cards and are the cornerstone of
army building. You must start your army selection by choosing company
cards first. Each company cards entitles you to:
Up to 5 SUPPORT cards
A maximum of ONE special card
This forms the base of all epic army organizations. Some armies have
variants of this but the initial premise explained above holds.
Support cards- these are smaller sized cards (about half the size of a
company card). They typical display one detachment (group of models) or
one model that equates to one detachment. You can NOT purchase these
independently; you MUST first have company cards to be eligible to
acquire support cards.
Special cards- these are the same size as company cards, but display a
rare unit, whose battlefield presence is scarce. You are entitled to ONE
special per company card. Like support cards you may NOT purchase them
on their own.
For example if you wanted to construct a space marine force you would
first select a company card (be it a land raider company, tactical,
battle, assault or devastator company), then you could attach to that
company up to 5 support cards (of whatever type). Note you may elect to
attach NO support cards and just field bare companies or any quantity in
between 1-5 (also note some armies have a minimum of cards you can
attach, but that's explained in each army list). In addition to those
cards you can attach one special card as well (or not if you choose so).
Command units come "free" with every company card you purchase. Support
cards and special cards often do not have HQ (command) units, although
there are exceptions. The actual card tells you EXACTLY what each unit
entails via a picture. So you don't need to write down anything or make
army lists, just plunk down the cards in the way and manner you
constructed the army and you can keep track of casualties by putting the
models on that card. The card also tells you important stuff like break
points, morale and victory points. So once it breaks you can "surrender"
the card to your opponent and you have a quick and easy method of
keeping track of how many VP's you have accrued and how close your units
are from breaking.
As you can see, army cards are an invaluable playing aid.
Hopefully, I answered your questions satisfactorily.
Enjoy!
Peter
