Any particular idea on what should appear on the face of these deployment cards?

A simple mention of unit and number of models would suffice?

-->Hmmm. I'm not sure. On one hand, you almost just want a number, or number letter combination, so as to keep the cards generic. Otherwise you're just reprinting the company or detachment card with a differnet back. Though the idea of "sucker" for the blanks does have amusement potential at the least.

I think I lean towards a generic set of cards, with a letter-number combo (A-1, A-2, etc) and some sort of smarmy message for the blanks. I think it's unnecessary to have a specific set of cards for each army, but to differentiate bewteen the sides, you have the backs in different colors, or use the army symbols in that manner. Just have teh backs read SM, or IG, or Fairies, or Slugs, or Bugs, or what not, and use the letter-number combo on the obverse sides. You know it's a given that whatever gets published for this, some smart alleck will inevitably use some combination of cards that won't be available in a single set. Best to use generic nomenclature for the face down side, and designate the army type by the backs.
