I've never played with the little buggers, however I've had det
"displeasure" of faceing them several times. I find that it is always
difficult to play against the squats, mostly because of their high
breakpoints. You can't really rely on getting many victory points from
broken squat units. Wich means that you usually find yourself spreading
out in order to secure as many objectives as possible.
This is something that a smart squat player can use to his advantage. He
should select a few objetives and fortrify himself around these, while
keeping a mobile reserve of bikes or gyrocopters. The enemy must attack
the squat possisions in order to secure a win, all the time fearing a
deep counterstrike towards the other objectives from the mobile reserve.
Meaning they might have trouble commiting enough troops to a
concentrated assault on the squat possisons, and over time anyone,
perhaps except the guard, will loos a firefight with the squats.
Of course there is a challenge in securing the objektives in the first
place...

The Stunties are getting a bit of a run around here too. Personally,
I've never been a fan of the Land Train....a) because it is super badly
out of scale, and b) because it is far more vulnerable to close assault
than the Squat praetorians. The Goliaths also are an overrated unit
IMO. I've taken the full company of them twice in recent games and they
have never even gone close to paying for themselves. I think one game
they didn't kill a single thing....in 5 turns! The Grand Battery is
also junk. Pretty much everything else is excellent!
Major problem for the Squats in NetEpic is their total inability to deal
with Titans other than with firepower. A speedy close combat orientated
Titan can really ruin your Colossus/Cyclops/Behemoths' day. In
particular, the 'Nid Bio Titans are very hard for Squats to deal with.

I LOVE playing the Squats as they are my toughest army! I have only
lost once with them on a day when the dice gods were not with me.
The Squats have two main advantages, artillery and toughness. Take
as much artillery as you can, especially a Goliath Mega Cannon
Company and blast the hell out of everything. Not only do they have
massive amounts of artillery, but they do serious damage. Second,
they are tough as it takes the loss of about 75% of the models to
break a company.
Tactics - Use artillery as much as you can. Use the bike company
detachments to grab objectives. Park the gyros behind some cover and
use them as aerial support with pop up attacks. And get some
Thunderers parked high in a building - they rock with range and
damage modifiers.
Good luck - let us know how it goes.
