[NetEpic ML] Re: For anyone interested in Necron proxies

Hmmm, I plunked down an order for a number of spues (60) So It's down to 250 now. But the $1.00 prebuy is broken. I wonder if that being broken is a sign that they aren't actually accepting any more buy ins because it's not gonna happen, or if they're not doing it because they've decided that 1750 is plenty of preorders and are moving ahead.

Who knows.

Anyway, I asked because I'm finally working on building an epic necron force given the edenite releases. I decided that if I'm buying those I'd start applying my knowledge of mold making and plastic casting to the necron issue and create my own 6mm monoliths in mass. Working with plasticard and green stuff I started forming the sides of the pyramid shape and them making a cast of that which I'll then use to make a master body form out of urethane plastic

Then I'll file away areas that are recessed to create spaces for detail areas (to be filled with green stuff and molded for details and add platicard and sculpted greenstuff to make the panels and armor panels that make a monolith look the way it does.

Once I've got a working prototype I'll be able make some RTV rubber molds and crank out copies in bulk, I might even offer them up for interested netepic gamers in trade if there are any. Anyone know if there'd be any ip issues on that given that GW doesn't actually offer any necrons or monoliths in epic? Probably just call them deadite pyramids or something.

I know Raiders has examples of monoliths, but to be honest I've always thought they looked kinda shoddy and way too small. Pretty much looked like lumps of green stuff with no sharp edges or defined details. I figure a nice, properly sized and detailed professional looking monolith would be a pleasure to see on a table in 6mm scale.

I'm even looking at the feasibility of lighting it with one of those led ear mounted lights.

I'll post pics of the process, but I've only gotten so far as the undetailed main shape so far so there's not much to see yet. That'll change as I progress on this project.

They have my $10 as $1 deposit for 10 sprues.  From the renderings and the generated pictures of the models they look nice. Please go to their link and check them out. If you always wanted to Play Necrons but hated paying $10 for a handful of Chaos Androids on eBay when they are tough to find this is the best way to go.
