No, that's not my point. My point is, the Slann are the oldest race, and as
such shouldn't necessarily have the most powerful psychers, but they should
be good enough to have psychic saves.
Using "history" to make a point is imho bogus. The Slann have helped all the
races develop, and i could easily make a different story showing my point,
but
i won't since i think it's a waste of time.
Whether or not the Slann psychic powers are more related to the warp than
the
Eldar, doesn't help your argument since this is just an aspect of psychic
powers.
There must be a basis for psychic powers, and whether they branch out to
study
the warp or whatnot they still have the basic knowledge and the "feel". They
must
have, otherwise they simply wouldn't be psychers.
As for humans being the strongest race, check out the new D&D 3rd edition,
where
all demihuman level limits have been removed. Finally i might say. I've
always
thought it was wrong to portray for example elves as superior magic users in
the books, while the actual game didn't represent this. Well, i guess my
point
here is that if the humans have superior psychers/magic users, it is only
based
on the fact that they are so many! A good example to illustrate my point
here
is the U.S and Russia. These two countries have so many people, they're
bound
produce some of the best athletes in the world, based on statistics alone,
and
so they do.
In my mind this i a logical question. Psycher=psychic save, non-psycher=no
psychic
save unless a special unit (Avatar or whatever). To discuss so called
"history"
is in my opinion a moot point.

Your point is, that beeing the creators of all other races the slann should
have the greatest psychers in all the fields of the psycic arts.
Lets look into that; The slann created the Eldar as a race with high psychic
awareness. Then left them to their own. As the Eldar evolved their psychic
powers grew stronger and took a different shape than that of their creators.
Finally the Eldars psychic powers even surpassed that of the Slann. So I do
believe that if even if the Slann is the oldest of the races they do not
nesseserely have to have the most powerfull psychers. Furthermore their
study of psychic powers is more linked to the warp, than that of the eldar.
And as a gather from the rules, of a more physical nature, making them
vunerable to the more suptle powers represented by non physical psycic
powers...
As for the astropath, the humans are always the strongest race in any game
enviroment I've ever seen. This is because they are the most cunning,
adabtable, ambitious and cruel race around. The Eldar has the highest number
of psychers, the humans the bes, and the others are specialised in their
own fields according to the nature of their race.
