--Jane's can get expensive, and quick, especially if you want wide
coverage. Small arms, support weapons, on up, all in sperate books.
Simple is best in this case I would say. Try this one: "Military Small
Arms of the 20th Century" by Ian Hogg and John Weeks. My copy is the 6th
Edition, so there may be a newer edition out there. the ISBN is:
0-87349-120-3. The book is broken down by type (pistol, Bolt-action
rifle, automatic, machinegun), then by Nation, with dates of service,
first introduction, etc. Basic stats are also provided, such as weight,
mag capacity, and muzzle velocity.
