If you charge your opponent, the saves never come into play.
If you have less infantry, this actually promotes tactical thinking.
And rolling an inf save takes about 2 seconds. Besides, it's
exciting to see if your stand lives or dies. If enough of them
live, the game could open up for some exciting new tactics.
Have you thought of that? I love inf saves, i love the
Necron regen saves. They keep my blood boiling. Will it live,
or will it die? How will this change my tactic? :-)
Given the assumption that all armies are equally strong,
you'd have to use tactics to win, regardless of inf saves.
Shrewd use? Would you justify a cost of 100 for an inf
stand with shrewd use? Lets just take away the save,
and let him use them better? That'll do me a world of
good when the artillery starts raining death....

cheap infantry?
Maybe a better shrewd use could be the answer, if you only
charge your
opponent with brute force your elite infantry deserve to
die, but I'm
talking like an eldar, that cannot do such things, but must
use some
tactics to win a game, and obviously must have an high
percentage of
time to plan what to do instead of rolling dices to shred
the enemy :o)
