As predicted, this issue is packed full of Armageddon stuff, including a large
helping of Armageddon fluff, and part 1 of a huge studio battle for hive
tempestora. Excellent issue this one, the best in a long time. This issue also
comes with a large Armageddon poster, which has pictures(drawings, and mini
photos) of some of the participating forces on one side, and the Armageddon
map(like the website) with descriptions of the different warzones/hives on the
other

Just something of interest that I thought Id note here before I started. Is it
just me, or has anyone else noticed that GW seem to be including the armies of
their staffers alongside their studio armies in battles/new-mini articles
lately?

Anyway:

Stuff about the bloodquest movie being done by exile films. Nothing new that

ARMAGEDDON - The beast returns

Fat Bloke explains whats going down with the Armageddon campaign. The website
is explained, as is the campaign and how it will work, and their is a brief
synopsis of Codex: Armageddon. At the bottom of the page, the question is
asked: "Will this be Commissar Yarricks last stand?"

Campaign warzones:

This tells you how you can take part, by sending in the sheet(or photocopies of
it) from this issue, or by registering on the website, and their is a fluffy
description of each warzone/hive, like the descriptions on the poster and on the
website.

Ghazghkulls opening gambit:

Phase 1 Fluff taken from the codex about what happens immediately prior to orks
arriving in the Armageddon system.

On the next four sides we get the phase 2, 3 and 4 fluff from the codex.

BATTLE RESULTS FORM

This is the form that WD readers can use to send in results of the battles of
40k, epic 40k and BFG they have played(whos betting at least 50% will be fakes?
J).

THE ARMIES OF ARMAGEDDON

Details of the 4 100 boxed armageddon army sets.

In the Black Tempar one we get and LR Crusader, 1 squad of 10 initiates and 4
neophytes, 1 squad of 5 initiates and 2 neophytes, 2 5-man BT assault squads, 2
Land Speeders, a command squad consisting of an Apothecary, Techamrine, Std
Beare and a marine with a meltagun, plus the Limited Edition Space Marine
Commander.

In the Salamander one there is Chaplain Xavier, the Force Commander with the
powersword, a techmarine and a Std Bearer, 1 Rhino, 1 Predator, 1 LR, 1 tactical
squad with an MM and a plasmagun, 1 tactical squad with an MM and a flamer and 1
5-man devastator squad with lascannon, heavy bolter and 2 MMs.

The Steel Legion one is Commissar Yarrick, a Steel Legion Lieuteanat with HQ
squad, 3 Steel Legion squads, a Chimera and 3 Steel Legion sentinels.

The ork box is Gaz, 4 Nobz and a stormbo Nob, 9 Stormboyz, 5 Tankbustas, 17
slugga boyz, 18 shoota boyz, 3 Warbikes, a wartrakk, and 2 killer kans.

POWER OF DA WAAAGH

An article about the new ork minis, and about Ghazghkull in his 3 different
miniature incarnations.

BEST OF ENEMIES

2 Sides, one with Yarrick Fluff, one with Gazghkull fluff. Nice.

IN DEFENCE OF ARMAGEDDON

1 side reprinting Commissar Yarricks rule from C:IG and a golgotha fluff piece,
and the other side with a description and pictures of the new steel legion
miniatures wich make up the 18 squad box.

INDEX ASTARTES - PROMETHEAN WARRIORS

5 sides of fluff about the salamander Space Marine chapter, and 2 sides
displaying the studio army.

The Salamander fluff is excellent. It describes Vulkan, how vulkan killed 100
eldar pirates, how Vulkan and the Emperor met, Nocturne and Prometheus, the
Salamander beliefs, Nocture society and how the salamanders like to mix with and
act as leaders of their people on Nocturne(unlike most other space marine
chapters do), Salamanders on Armageddon, how the salamanders are master artisans
and have a high number of master-crafted stuff and terminator armour, TuShan
the Salamander Chapter Master, and the organisation of the Salamanders chapter.

The organistion is interesting. The Salamanders have seven companies, in parrel
with the seven settlements of the inhabitants of Nocturne.

The first company is known as the "Firedrakes"(after the mightiest of the
nocturne salamander lizards) and consits of 12 sqauds of veterans. The 2nd, 3rd
and 4th companies are battle companies consisting of 7 tac squad, 2 assault
squad and 3 dev squad. The 5th and 6th are reserve companies, the 6th having 8
tac squads and 4 devastator squads, and the 6th having 8 devastator squads and 4
tac squad. The 7th is the scout company.

Also include are pics of salamander chapter and honour markings.

tyranid hive fleet models.

GAMES WORKSHOP ONLINE

2 sides about the new look website.

WARHAMMER 40,000 ARENA OF DEATH

Deathmatch between Commissar Yarrick and Ghazghkull Thraka.

WARZONE TEMPESTORA

Absolutely *massive* battle report about the studio battle for Tempestora Hive.
Part 1 is in this issue, part 2 will be in the next WD.

Its actually 4 battlereports all rolled into one.

The main battle is War Across The Tank Factory, with Salamanders, Blood Angels
and Steel Legion fighting an ork horde on the large tank battle table kept at
GWHQ that has been displayed at Gamesdays.

The Second, Smash Da Big Gunz, is a Catachan regiment defending the imperial
artillery raining down supporting fire on the ork horde in the first battle
around the tank factory from an ork horde and two fight-bommerz attacking them.
The map is another GWHQ map seen at some of the open days.

The 3rd, Flank March is a white scars patrol trying to fight through a group of
speed freeks so they can re-inforce the imperial in the main battle and outflank
the orks.

The 4th and last is a Black Templar force fighting through the space hulk ogron,
which is bombarding the imperial forces in the main battle, trying to destroy
the hulks gun batteries.

Good stuff if you ask me, with the battlereport being written in a fluffy report
style. Itll be concluded next issue.

Then we have the mail order pages with army deals and all the new minis.

Last, but not least is the back cover. Next issue, for the month of September
will continue the Armageddon stuff, see the release of more Steel Legion minis
and Black Templar minis, and all will be revealed about the new edition of
warhammer.

Well, thats all folks. Questions? comments?
