Hi!

Nils's answers are correct. You can use chaos cards to save a greater
demon if destroyed in close combat. Remember however if teh close combat
attack is psychic it may not be saved. Units such as the eldar warlock
titan, grey knights and such have psychic close combat attacks, which
may NOT be saved.

The bolt of change as any greater demon attack may be used in close
combat if the model is not pinned. Being of the "knight" class this
means only another knight class model or titan/praetorian can pin a
greater demon.

Greater demons DO NOT receive their saving throw in close combat. If
they lose they are destroyed barring use of cards. This power belongs to
the Avatar alone!

As far as I remember Grey knights teh warlock titan and the avatar all
have close combat attacks that are psychic in nature making theem very
goof greater demon killers.
