I have played 3 balltes with the epic system and based on my experinces I
find that 200-300 point detachments simply evaporate in the face of
concentrated firepower. Using 400 + point detachments has proven quite
successful. The latest venture was 2 Marine players vs 2 Ork and 1 Chaos.
 1500 each for the marines and 1000 for each Ork and Chaos player. Prevaling
house rules were used for simultanoeus fire and moral was suspended for
everything except assaults and firefights as this was to be a fight to the
death. My marines were in 3 detachments around 500 points each 1 fast
attack, 1 artillery (whirlwinds and LR's with termies fro screening and
support), and 1 heavy weapons detachment w/ LR and Pred support. There were
NO titans on the marine side. The Orks and Chaos fielded several. I can
give a more detailed report if anyone is interested but the short of it is
that my heavy detachments fared very well while the smaller detachments used
by my partner did not.......
