Re: Squat Army WAS Re: [Epic] Knights(Lil' bit off topic)
I know quite a bit about WWII, i play historical WWII games regularly, and
have studied the real battles extensively.
No points based system can be perfect, they can only roughly estimate the
value a certain vehicle or troop should be assigned.
The points systems cannot reflect the effectiveness of certain units in
combination with certain other units.
What is good about the points based system is that one army can be equal the
the other but still have no chance of beating the other, as in real life, just
because you have more expensive equipment than the other guy, or better
trained troops, you do not have a sure victory.
Sort of like the US in Somalia, 2 teams of very well trained commandos
equipped with high tech weapons and vehicles, against a horde of worthless
untrained shitbags
firing cheap soviet or chinese made AK-47's and a few surplus soviet rocket
launchers.
The Rangers and their equipment probably cost more than the entire Somalian
Warlords "army" and their entire cash of weapons. But still, they were
overwhelmed , their copter shot from the sky, their corpses dragged through
the streets, and the survivors forced to flee.
Now, the troops should never have been sent in to do that particular job,
since an airstrike could have solved the problem, but you know haw annoying
politicians can get, they never wanna just go in and kill the enemies and
their supporters.
But anyway, a few expensive vs. alot of cheap troops, numbers make a big
difference, and when you have many targets it is hard to discerne which have a
higher kill priority.
No points system can accurately represent the strength of an army, the victor
is the one with the most effective force for the particular mission, (but with
a game where you just have to beat the other guy, there is an element of luck
to it also).
So what one might call invincible "chees" might be as feeble as a mass of
blind nuns to another guy.
So i say once more, STOP WHINING ABOUT CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But thats just my opinion (ranting) :)
