Hello!
The opinions up to now strongly favor a points system for titan weapons,
such a system at the moment is being refined by Tony and me. Tony's
system and the old AT values are very similar.
To give you all an idea cost for a chessily armed titan will be at
almost 1000 (for a warlord with 2 vortex and 2 volcano cannons), most
powerful weapon combos will be at 900(the present cost), more realistic
weapons combo will place them at about 700-750 which is the range the
majority feels a warlord with decent weapons(warlord with volcano
cannon, gatling blaster, laser blaster and power fist will roughly be at
750).
I'll post these in complete form by Saturday.
For those who think this may complicate things I would like to point out
2 things:
1-the amount of titans in any given game usually are few, so you need do
this a couple of times. For those who use the same weapons combos over
and over you need calculate this but once.
2-the Vp's will still conform to 100 per 1 Vp (or if over 50 round up).
As for the close combat issue and titans the opinions strongly lean to
the old AT rules which are as follows:
Vehicles
Any vehicle on charge orders may ram a titan, the vehicle must make a
succesful roll equal or greater to its armor save(regardless of the
result the vehicle is destroyed the save is to represent the efficacy of
the ram). The titan will make an armor save corresponding to the lowest
leg location on the template with a negative modifier equal to the
vehicles CAF, but never more then -3 in any event(this represents that
vehicles with larger CAF usually are more bulky therefore imparting
greater impact).
Troop stands
Any troop stand that engages a titan in close combat must survive its
multiple defenses(whatever you think they should be). Only on the roll
of a 6 on a d6 indicates survival. Each surviving stand has been
succesful in causing damage and the titan saves on a leg location of the
assaulters choice for each surviving stand at a penalty equal to the
stands CAF, but never greater than -3 in any case. If for some reason
the titan is immobilized the roll to survive the titans defenses is a
4+.
For those who expressed that some units should have a better chance at
survival than others the old rules had a elite designation which can be
applied to HQ units and other units everyone deems worthy of it when we
cover individual armies(this would be easy since it would go in the
comments or special attribute box that is at the end of any epic unit
listing). The survival of these units was on a 5+ instead of 6.
Also some have said that these attacks should not produce catastrophic
damage and the old rules express as much so I propose that the damage
roll be halved so at worst it will severly damage the leg ,but produce
no KO'es!
NOTE: THE OLD AT RULES WERE MODIFIED TO FIT THE REALITY OF THE PRESENT
RULES SYSTEM(THE CONCEPTS OF SUPERFICIAL AND CRITICAL DAMAGE NO LONGER
EXSIST). I HAVE USED THESE FOR YEARS AND THE EFFECT IS THE SAME AS THE
OLD RULES.
As always, opinions please!!
United we stand!
