It runs on late-night sometimes. You might just have to keep an eye on
your late-night TV listings. I've caught it there twice. I've never
seen a copy of it for sale on video, unfortunately.
Incidentally, even this isn't complete. Herbert wrote an essay about the
movie as part of the forward for one of his short story compilations.
I have the book at home, but can't remember the title right now. In this
essay he stated that the completed film version weighed in at 8 hours
and that he hoped to get the whole thing on TV as a miniseries some day.
Unfortunately, he caught a bad case of dead before that happened. I'd
still love to see it some time. Herbert also said that the only thing
he didn't like about the movie was its handling of what Paul was. Paul
was supposed to be a man who was playing at being a god, not an actual
god who could make it rain on Arrakis.
What did I think of the books? On a four star scale:
Dune ***** (I know I said it's a 4 star scale, don't argue with me!)
Dune Messiah **
Children of Dune ***
God Emperoro of Dune *
Heretics of Dune *
Chapterhouse Dune (No stars)
