ISTR that it is illegal, just that nobody cares.
Further examples of illegal != wrong: There are several old laws in the
UK which still stand, for example:
Playing football (sack-er for all you 'merkins) is punishable by death
If you see a Welshman in Cheshire, it is legal for you to shoot him with
your longbow
Everyone must do 2 hours longbow practice every day
Etc...
