I have great respect for scrounging. My best friend that I went through
Infantry school (and then everything else) with was a master thief, er, I
mean scrounger. I'll never forget the time we were out in the field in
North Carolina, and our section leader said we needed about 100' of com
wire. Mayes said, "give me 10 minutes." 10 minutes later he came walking
up with an entire roll of com wire, a spool of 550 cord (para-cord, or any
of a dozen other names), and a pocket full of chem lights. He refused to
tell us where he got any of it, of course, but after that he became known as
"The Quartermaster." Okay, it's not a spare AFV, but still . . .

Now see, THAT is impressive logistics, but I've never seen the old USMC do
anything of the sort.
