Since the subject of assaulters getting a free ride into HTH has come up, I'll throw out and Idea I've been toying with... Covering Fire "This is Colonel Graff. Second Armor detachment, you are to keep a bead on the Eldar falcons on the flank. If they move, tear them up!" A Detachment may declare "Covering Fire," representing the detachment watching a target area or detachment and firing on them while they move. Use the Special Orders side of the Orders die to represent a detachment on Covering Fire. A Detachment on Covering Fire may choose to fire their weapons at any time during either the Movement or Assault phase, interrupting the movement of the opponent's detachment if desired. The firing detachment fires as if it were firing on normal orders, except that they shift their firing column one to the right (ie, one worse) to represent reacting to the target detachment's movements on the fly. The Detachment does NOT get to reroll misses, and must count all standard deductions for Terrain, Cover, etc. at the point that the Covering Fire was taken. The Target detachment takes blast markers as normal, but need not re-test to charge if on assault orders. A Detachment on Covering fire may fire only once during the entire turn, and must fire into a single target detachment; it may not split fire between more than one detachment. So waddaya think? Is the firepower reduction (one column shifted right) too much? Shidara
