Dreadnaughts, Ravenwing, Scythes of the Emperor

Hi,

Just finished playing a game for the EZine, during the battle I took
a detachment of Punisher Dreadnaughts to test them out having heard the
various complaints on the mailing list.

The game only lasted 2 turns as unfortunatly we racked up the VP's
pretty quick, the Dreads were too slow to make any difference within that
time, however they would have probably been of more use in Turn 3. They
never got into range despite an attack on their flank, they might have been
in range had our devestator detachment not been so effective (in one fire
phase they wiped out a Land Raider detachment on their own).

I think the Dreadnaughts move should be increased to 15cms, the
extra 5cms would have enabled us to have brought them into the conflict as
it was they were ineffective.

The Ravenwing was deadly, I will definatly take it again in future
battles. I thought it odd though that its command unit was an infantry HQ
unit with a Rhino. Why not have an optional special card which can only be
used with the Ravenwing called the 'Master of the Ravenwing' basically a HQ
unit mounted on a bike or a land speeder. Give it a high CAF, morale bonus
within 10cms, replaces the normal HQ unit and cost an extra 50 points.

My opponent was interested in fielding a unit known as the Scythes
of the Emperor, it is a special card with a thunderhawk and 5 terminator
stands. It costs 250 points, will there be a version in NetEpic. Personally
I think it's price should be raised, but I wouldn't object against playing
him with it.

One rules question for you, when a detachment is loaded into a
Thunderhawk, what happens to the rhinos? Are they loaded to or are they left
behind and become exempt from squad co-herency? Just asking because our
opponent used a Thunderhawk with a detachment of Veterans onboard the Rhinos
were left behind and I felt it was odd.

Tom.
