And a direct hit to a trench is a direct hit no matter where the shell comes
from.

Not really as the lip of the trench is going to provide cover from allot of
the blast from a conventional artillery shell with the shrapnel and earth
going up over the infantry safely ensconced within the trench but with a
mole mortar the lip of the trench has provided no protection at all and all
the shrapnel and earth have gone straight in to the trench and probably
collapsed a good portion of it in the process as the foundation has been
severely and directly damaged remember these things were originally designed
to crack open Squat underground fortresses.

Vibro cannon is a different matter since the resonating waves actually are
transmitted so that the ground acts as the medium, so a skimmer would pretty
much be immune to those.

Not sure here as whilst the ground certainly acts as the medium there is
going to be some corresponding result above ground as any loose rocks etc
get moves which could conceivably strike and damage a skimmers engines
knocking them out of the air.
