We had a 40K game once with a fortress (the GW Mighty
Fortress, when it was new!) where a vortex grenade
landed on the ramparts. It sat there for several
rounds, slowly drifting back and forth a few inches,
while all the defenders quickly got out of its way.
We figured there were probably a few guys in the room
underneath, looking up at the lower half of this black
globe, and wondering why the hell it didn't just fall
down to the floor and keep on going through to the
core of the planet...
Ah, those were the days! 50 pages of house rules just
to make the game playable, gaping holes in the logic,
but it was still great fun :)
