Is a disclaimer really necessary? Does Star Wars have a disclaimer
stating that the producers don't necessarily hold or support the
views espoused by Darth Vader and the Empire? Are these disclaimer
things not getting a bit over the top?
Ok, just had a discussion with my flatmate and he thinks that a
disclaimer is more necessary for 40k!! His reasoning is something
along the lines of: The evil Imperium as potrayed in 40k is glorified
and seen as worth fighting for, and the only alternative for humans
in the 40k universe is something even worse (Chaos - and is it really
worse I have to ask?) In contrast the evil Empire in Star Wars is
demonised and seen as something worth fighting against, because
humans have much better alternatives available... Hence young kids
buy Imperials as heroes in 40k, but Imperials as bad guys in star
wars... hmmm its all getting a bit philosophical... but
interesting...
