Hi!

You know, you got me thinking (bad habit, I know). The only reason that
I kept from using polyhedral dice is to try to avoid people having to
get such dice to play the game.

Here's the question, does everyone who plays miniature games also play
RPG's and thus already have such dice? Is it common to have such dice
for everyone?

My original Heresy system was polyhedral based. It eliminates LOADS of
problems and modifiers since you play around with dice type rather than
modifiers. That's why I think DSII is perhaps the best system out there
because it is very low on modifiers and special rules since the
interplay with such dice make such ploys unnecessary.

I'm slowly warming up to go back to what I originally wanted for Heresy,
thus eliminating tables and the complex CC as it stands.

What do you think?

I just got an idea. A vehicle's defense is dependent of two things:
armor and maneuverability. Armor affects survivability after a hit is
scored while maneuverability may prevent the hit being scored in the
first place.

There could be a "maneuver die" assigned to each vehicle representing
their maneuverability and the skill of the driver. The to-hit roll would
be an opposed roll where the attacker rolls hit die (dependent of
sensors and skill) and defender rolls a maneuver die. A bike could have
a maneuver die of d10 (or even a d12) while a superheavy tank would have
a d6. This means that it is easier to hit a superheavy tank than a bike,
as it should be. OTOH a superheavy tank has MUCH more armor and is more
likely to survive hits while any hit on a bike pretty much finishes it.

What do you think?
