Actually, you do. Tyranid army book p.6:
"Models that can regenerate are not automatically removed after taking wounds equal to their total. Instead place the model on its side. During the end phase of the turn the regenerating creature may attempt to heal any wounds suffered. Roll a D6 for each wound the creature has taken, on a 4-6 remove the wound counter. If after attempting to heal wounds the creature still has more wounds than its wounds value it is removed."

Chaos army book p.11:"...A Bloodletter model that is slain is not removed but placed on its side, in the end phase roll one D6 for every Bloodletter on its side and on a roll of 4+ it regenerates the wound, is restored and may be given orders normally in the next orders phase. If the roll is failed the model is removed and counts toward the unit break point."

In neither case do the rules say anything about not being able to regenerate wounds suffered in close combat, which is logical. After all, how much difference from regeneration POV is there between your arm being shot off by a bolter round or chopped off by a power axe?
