RE: [NetEpic ML] NetEpic Version 5

Hi,

No fear!

I fully understand your point of view! However, I have som comments to it!

The latest set of rules will always be the "official" NetEpic rules, and
think of the confusion in the future when someone askes a rule related
question... you would have to answer in accordance to the rules version 3.x,
4,x or 5.x... That could prove to be a challenge, althoug maybe a pleasent
one.

Besides, even though many of us choose not to participate activly in this
revision we still would like to have an oportunity to voice our opinions.
This will of course slow down the developeing prosess, but what is really
the hurry.....???? This is after all a labour of love, and making love is
best done patiently over long periods of time..... is it not :)

Bottom line, efficiency versus satisfying the masses..... I'd normaly go for
efficiency but in this case..... I'm not sure....

Hi!

One note of caution for all members, I don't want this to devolve into a
"version war". Obviously each edition of net epic has its own charm and each
version will have its place and availability. It's more a question of
coordination and use of resources, since Jar and I (and a small group of
interested parties) can finish it much faster than our current snails pace.

Also, my good friends from the north (Nils and crew), do not think you have
started some nasty landslide. I have been thinking on this for quite some
time and it was actually Darius, from a post long ago, that got me thinking
on this.

Those who have been with net epic for a long time knows, that it is usually
a fraction of our members that actively participate in net epic's revisions.
That is okay, since I view this as a vote of confidence from most members
that they trust us to "do the right" thing with the game and are content to
use what we create and test. With 5.0 I think the group of active
participators is tighter and I wonder if I should form a small design group
to make things efficient.

Opinions?

Peter

Hi all,

I will use most certainly use NetEpic 5, as far as I can see NetEpic
was born from Space Marine 2nd Ed, and has had a gradual evolution with each
version steadily improving. We have had new models provided to us which with
this revision will gain rules, we have cleaned up a lot of mistyped
information, errors and cost anomalies. Without evolution, games stagnate, I
like to face different tactical challenges when I play NetEpic, in fact when
I face units that I have never played against before it keeps me on my
toes...

Chess is the obviously contradiction to my view, it doesn't evolve
it has a static rules system, but EPIC is more than just a test of logic, it
is a whole world, an atmosphere which is reflected in the fan fiction we get
for it. As part of this, new units and updated rules (not necessarily
changed rules, but reworded to make them clearer) are essential to keep the
system alive.
