I don't think we've EVER tried to incorporate this kind of mechanic. By this I mean that CC discussion before has always been centered on either a morale check or modifiers to the CC roll before whereas this would be a completely separate roll with the combat result being the single most powerful factor in determining the outcome, as it should be.

The morale check thingy has the problem of making troops like IG even poorer in CC while bonuses to CAF tend to eat each other out, so on average they don't affect the game too much.

What has been proposed is something I (we?) haven't thought of before but which, IMO, has better potential than anything suggested so far. The only con I can think of is the need to make an additional 2d6 roll for each CC, but at least on paper it really seems to be worth it and additional die rolls haven't bothered me in the past anyway. I am not a member of Ordo KIADSAP (Keep It As Darn Simple As Possible). ;o)
