Why would it be lumbering? It could be as quick and agile as a phantom,
suited to the Tau doctrine. Very "shooty", but lousy CAF, like most Tau
units.

Tau don't like to get into protected warfare (war of attrition has no meaning to them) and as such I don't see them using Titan-sized units.  On the other hand, if people want them, lets put some in, at least as optional units.  I personally can't see the Tau using anything bigger than a Scout Titan as they have the Manta to fulfill the "Heavy Titan" role.

True, but how long would it last when attacked by a good number of
cheaper strike craft?

Longer than a Titan ;-).  Seriously, the Manta is built to withstand interstellar travel and ship-to-ship combat, where the weapons make Titan-scale warfare look wimpy.  It should be able to withstand a fairly hefty amount of enemy fire on the battlefield.

Also very true. What otehr companies stuff would you use?

Let me scout the web and my local modeling shops and I'll get back to you with a list.  I know I've seen some small Robotech-style mecha that would be the perfect thing for Tau Knight-class suits.

I really like you "knight - sized" approach. Of course thats just
because I can buy and field more units of that size than titan
sized..... ;-)

For me, it makes more sense.  From a logistics point of view, Titans would be a nightmare to support and transport.  I don't see the Tau having the ability or the will to support those kinds of units.  Super-heavy Battlesuits in the Knight Class I CAN see them using as they make more sense logistically as well as tactically.  The Tau are very flexible tactically, both in the fluff and in 40K.  I've never used them in Epic but I think they probably would be quite tactically flexible there too and Knight Class units would fit that a bit better, I feel.

HOWEVER, if people like the idea of Tau Titans, lets make some and see how they fit.  The Tau aren't adverse to new ideas and would probably have tried it out at some point to see if they were worth the trouble.
