There are few
things that need stats though. The Ragnarok and
Siegfried tanks, the IG autocannon and bazooka guys, the Fire Support
platoon guy, and the Space Marine jet bike.
Hmm. This is a big can of worms with a couple of these. The
Ragnarok and Siegfried, sure, I can understand that. The models are
very different and unique.
However, the IG weapons are all basically covered under the IG Heavy
Weapons Infantry unit. Regardless of whether they are using Rocket
Launchers, Autocannons, Lascannons or Heavy Bolters they are covered
under IG Heavy Weapons Infantry. If we start introducing rules for
each type of heavy weapon that infantry carry it gets too
confusing. If we do this for the IG, then we need to differentiate
for Space Marine Devastators (who can take Multi-Meltas, Plasma Cannons,
Lascannons and Heavy Bolters), Orks, and Squats to keep
consistancy. This was done to the extreme in Adeptus
Titanicus/Space Marine V1 days and was
really confusing. I'd
be voting No to making unique stats for the different IG Heavy Weapons
minis.
The Space Marine Jetbike is very controversial. Once upon a time
they could have jetbikes, then they were dropped. They are very
hard to get now. GW UK and US do not sell them. Marines have
the basic bike, isn't that enough? If we introduce them they should
be VERY optional. I wouldn't want to play against them (Marines are
fast enough as it is).
As far as I am
concerned, we can have stats for every model.
Sure, that's your right and we're all entitled to our opinion.
I don't like it because it gets confusing and frankly can turn some
people off. I know of several people who hate NetEpic because they
were around during the period of "stats for every model" and
this turned them off completely. Even though its been toned down,
they still don't want to touch NetEpic, which is a real shame because its
a great game.
One of the things I
liked best about the older versions of Net Epic were the
comments in italics for what models to use. While we all know the
models for most of the items, there were some suggestions for vehicals
where there were no GW models - like some of the Squat tanks for
example. IMHO, those comments should be brought
back.
I agree on this point. There should be some reference for those of
us who are new to the world of NetEpic and want to know where to source
models. I'd like to see something included in each book.
