Finally, after
years of deliberating I've gotten round to putting together a TAU army.
Whee! Another Tau player! Sweet!
Besides, the mini seems awefully
large on a tabletop battlefield? Instead I'm considering using a
Tigershark as a proxy. (I'm considering using other proxies for Tau
flyers).
Well, frankly the Tigershark doesn't make a good proxy for the
Manta. Its way too small and isn't armed correctly. I've put
together a list of figures that I can recommend as Tau Manta
Proxies:
Forgeworld
BFG
Tau Custodian (Product Code SG-BFG-G-036)
GZG Full Thrust Konstantin class ATTACK CARRIER (Code: FT-213)
Mongoose Centauri Primus Battlecruiser
Mongoose Centauri Adira Royal Battleship
Mongoose Dilgar Mishakur Dreadnought
Mongoose Dilgar Mankhat Dreadnought
Forgeworld
BFG
Tau Protector (Product Code SG-BFG-G-046)
For the best proxy I would recommend the Battlefleet Gothic Tau Custodian
from Forgeworld (first on the list). It looks Tau-ish, its large
enough to represent a Manta and its much, much cheaper (£16 from
memory). The Mongoose Publishing miniatures are from the Babylon 5
line and a few of them would make decent proxies. Yes, the Manta is
huge but it is properly scaled for 6mm. Trust me, you want a large
figure to represent the Manta and it give a sense of menacing presence on
the battlefield, just as you would expect from having a small starship in
support of your battleline.
Good luck with it, Nils!
