PD acts just like an independant weapon system. Each die can be
independently allocated, yes.
PD can target anything it likes. Given its tiny range it is most useful
for shooting things that charged or were charged by the unit more often
than not, but can be useful in other circumstances....when units are 15cm
or less away :-)
1) Hmm, I'd say the Marines were too shaken up to depart, but you could
probably just D6 this one any time it happens (e.g. 1-3 they're stuck, 4-6
they can get out).
2) I'd say no to affecting things inside a bunker.
Units using Barrage weapons (those that combine...listed with an _at_) cannot
engage units that have charged them with the barrage weapon. However, if
there are say three vehicles in a battery and only one is engaged the
other two can still fire at a target with a reduced BP total. (where does
it appear to contradict this in the rules?)

A couple of questions...

OK - the big one. Point Defense.
Can anyone tell me how it's meant to work ? The rule is rather vaguely
worded and it came up as far more important than I thought it might be.
According to the rule :
Point Defense systems (the X listed next to the ability) always act as
though they were on First Fire Orders no matter what the unit's actual
orders are, and may be thought of as a separate unit. They may be used
in the Movement Phase in order to Snap Fire at the target of a charge
(with the normal –1 To-Hit penalty) or to gun down a Charging enemy
(without the –1 penalty), or they may fire in the Combat Phase when
the model make it's normal ranged attacks.
All PD attacks have a 360° arc of fire, a range of 15 cm, hit on a 6+
and have 0 TSM. Point Defense may only attack once per turn, but all
the dice do not need to be used at the same time or against the same
target.
So the questions are :
Each die of Point Defense is a individual weapon system given the
statement they can fire at different targets and at different times ?
Can you only target something the model with point defense is charging
(i.e. target of a charge) or things that are charging the unit with PD
(Charging enemy) or is it autonomous enough to act as a regular
super-gun ?
Then a couple of questions about the Wave Serpent :
1) If the wave plows through a group of SM in rhinos - are the SM
inside the rhinos (who might have different orders according to Troops
& Transports rule) do both the SM and the Rhinos lose their orders -
or just the Rhinos since they were the ones hit by the wave and
protect the SM inside ?
2) Subsequently - being a skimmer - if a Wave Serpent passes _over_ a
wood, bunker, etc. using the skimmer ability - does the wave extend to
the ground and hence effect the troops inside the terrain or does it
stick to the WS and just continue on. Not that I'm looking for troops
to be able to shoot the belly armor of WS, just curious what folks
think on that one.
Can barrage weapons fire at chargers ?
It seems to say they can in one spot of the rules and that they can't
in another. what am I missing here ?
Just looking for opinions. I know that getting nit-picky with rules
like Epic can lead to more problems than you want to think about - but
those are just some sticking points amongst our group. That and why
the IG has it's troops riding in Chimeras but the commanders in
Rhinos....
Thanks !
