Hi!

Time to settle the issues on slann titan feasiblility.

Keep in mind that I used the new changes of fixed catastrophic numbers and
fized shield armor.

The titans are 70cm in open ground.

Turn one

The slann titan wins initiative and opens with its powerful rapid firing
twin coiled pythons. They reek havoc as half the Imperators shields go down.
The king cobra barks loudly as all but one shield is knocked down.

Then the mighty Dragonstrike cannons opened uo, the remianing shields fall
and the Imperator's armor starts to slowly fill with holes. One shot punches
through critical circuitry in the leg permanently damaging the gyros (half
move). The Imperator loses 8 DR points this turn.

Angered the Imperator retailiates, firing the hull guns. A blue hue appears
over the slann titans armor as its energy armor dissapates the attacks, a
few get by causing minor dmamges. Heavier weapons fire but do nothing, the
volcano cannon fires wide. The great plasma annihilator fires and to the
Imperators horror even this greats weapons attack is much diminished. The
slann titan loses 5 DR points and no criticals caused.

The Imperator regains 8 shields.

Turn 2
The slann titan wins initiative again and opens fire the coiled pythons do
thier work as most of the shields are knocked down. the king cobra finishes
the job and starts to riddle the Imperator's hull with holes, one comes too
close to the reactor....but the casing shunts the force of the explosion
saving it from disaster!

The slann main weapons reek carnage on the failing Imperator it has now
suffered a toal of 16 points of DR loss! only 8 left!

A critical hit blows off the Hellstorm cannon.

The Imperator fires back, but after an inordinate amount of misses and the
energy armor doing its work the Slann suffers 3 more points of DR loss (it
16 points left).

Things look bleak for the Imperator, but the Emperor smiles on the titan as
11 shields are regenrated!

Turn 3
The slann titna wins initiative again! Shot after shots pumps into the
Imperator, but when the smoke finally clears the slann titan is spent and
ONE shield remains active. Luck seems to change hands. The Imperator unloads
all its weapons, even with many hits its hard to penetrate, the wounds begin
to mount as the slann titan now has 16 points lost. The Imperator has 8 left
and so does the Imperator!

The Imperator regains 8 shields.

Turn 4
The slann titan wins a record breaking 4th turn initiative and proceeds to
pound the Imperator, this first shots from the coiled pythons strip all the
shields the titan begins to suffer damage. The slann titan has one
dragonstrike gun left but the Imperator has one DR point left....it wouldn't
help the titan comes down with a slam. the slann titan lumbers off with 8 DR
points remaining.

Analysis
After a couple of more battles its pretty even, sometimes the Imperator
wins, sometimes the Slann titan wins, its an even matching.

The Imperators titan are of course very important, but they dont last
forever against massive fire power. Once stripped armor piercing weapons of
high modifiers can really hurt. If the shields last until late in the turn
its a good chance it wont even be scratched, too early though and it can get
hurt real bad.

The Slann titan has a lot of firepower but much is wasted on shield bashing,
many times its only left with a few shots at the end to hope to hit with.

Energy armor rocks! It doesn't stop anything but unless it is a weapon with
a armor piercing bonus of 4 or more you need to roll a lot of ten's to cause
damage. Almost always the Imperator had to depend on the plasma main weapon
to cause real damage.

On a separate note, having fixed catastrophic damage numbers and fixed
shield armor makes these guys tough (as it should be).

While widly expensive at 2000 points for each titan, they are worth it. Of
course you need to have quite a few lesser titan types to tangle with these
guys. You need 2-3 heavily armed warlords to take either of these guys and
expect to lose a few of them before it goes down.
