I'd say the shields are active, because of their nature. They are
"blink" shields.
Either the mech is there, or it isn't...
I've lost mechs actually :-) Really bad rolls on my part...

a gutbuster. That ois a question, does the gutbuster ignorre

displacement shields when it skids because it rolls over
anything in its
path and the shields shouldn't be in effect since the round
is so random in
the direction it travel? Come to think of it I never
destroyed a bull frog
mech. These things are powerful.
