Ok, but then the wording is wrong. "1D3 instead of by 2" implies
that
there is another unit which reduces armor values by 2.

No, this is to show that the Scarabs are small bug like
creatures that eat
away at armuor, they also produce a Nullify feild on that
Squad/Detachment
so all rules for Nulliy Feild apply too.
