Hi!

  Hello all,

well finally played my first game of Net Epic, version 3 has it happens as I already had that printed. IG v Eldar.

A 3000 point battle with really straight forward forces because the three of us are learning the game, it has been more than a few years since we played SM.

Firstly we liked the system and the way the game played and had a good fun encounter.

  Two questions did come up.

  1. CC if you win a round of CC can you then be shot at in the Advanced fire round or are you classed as in CC for that turn?

Unengaged models may be shot by units on advance fire orders in the same turn. It is important then not to leave your troops exposed after a successful assault. Note only unengaged models may be shot thus, units "pinned" meaning units still locked in close combat cannot be fire upon.

Our thought was that you are fully engaged for that turn or the victor in CC would just get slaughtered in that turn and not be able to fight in the next. Negating the will to win CC.

  2. Charge Moves do you have to be charging at a target or can you just use the extra move to get around the table quickly?

You can use charge orders to move quickly around the tabletop you are not obligated to initiate close combat.

As I said overall we were happy with the game and just for interest the glorious IG beat the alien scum, thanks to a tactical mistake by the pointy ears!!

IMO in your discussion on CC in V4 I feel that the attacker should be able to choose how many stands he engages, he could always suffer in the First Fire phase of the next turn.

My inclination is to leave this up to the individual groups as house rules since both interpretations have merit.

  Peter
