They were probably partly right; not that any resistance wouldn't be offered
but it probably wouldn't have had any real effect if the worst had happened
during the 60's. Back then the FDF equipment was obsolete and the defence
budget even smaller than it is now. Did you know we used PzIVj in tank crew
training until 73? It was to conserve the front line tanks...

The training situation has gotten much better here, but there are too little
funds to adequately maintain the standard of reserve troops; the number of
reserve excercises has dropped dramatically. Fortunately there still are
people who attend voluntary defence excercises.

In here there is talk of closing some base camps again. It seems both our
#&x$! president and #&x$! prime minister see the cutting of defense bdget as
a way of getting political points for their "peace loving" policies. Oh
well, "sic vis pacem para bellum".
