There is a general trend in Europe towards Americanization.
We buy your products, we watch you TV programs and we even
listen to your music. Never the less, i believe America
has to many problems to be a rolemodel for modern civilization.
The impression Europeans have of the US, i think, is this :
- Your Government doesn't work, there is a lot of lobbyism
- Healthcare is only for the rich
- Crime is a big problem
- Education. Lots of Americans cant even read, and most people
seem to think that Europe is a country :)
- Unemployment
- Dodgy "Strong-Arm" "Big-Brother" politics
- Socialism is a no-no word (often used as a synonym to communism)
In spite of all this, your country still manages to be one of the
most advanced in the world. My guess is that 2-3% of the population
actually manages this, while the rest are enjoying a "free ride" :)
How's that for a friendly flame? ;)
btw: It is much easier to be invaded when your country actually
borders to other countries which are rich and powerful. Do you
worry much about the Canadians or the Mexicans invading your country?
Oops, my bad, i guess they already are, coming over your borders
