I don't think theyare so bad CC fighters (+2 CAF equivalent) though I agree with your review of the points cost.

  Rune and I have just finished another great game of Netepic. We tried out the new robot-unit, The Slayer Cult and The Shortbeards.

  It was a 4k game, squat vs necrons, so we played until one of us got 45 points or more. I (squats) was severely beaten 50 something to 20 something OUCH!!!!

  Due to miniature and point shortage, I only fielded a squadron and not the whole company of robots. As expected, this turned out to be a VP giveaway. I cant really say more until we have tried out the whole company. It seems OK, though I would like to try it with some of the robot variants posted some time ago. Does anyone have it?

  The Slayer Cult didnt have any huge impact on this game. It no hard task for the necrons to kill of 5 squats in CC. They managed to contest an OP for a round though. Its easy VP to kill off 5 stands, so even though this unit is somewhat better than the berserkers, I dont think it will ever become a gamewinner nor a first-choice on peoples armylists. I sure wish I had a Forward Observer in stead... It ads some flauvor though....

  The one unit we really got tested this time was the Shortbeards. We tested them with a warlord because I really think they should have one. Every company gets a free commander or a price reduction. I dont think we shall reduce the price any.Beside that, it is a very reasponsible task to train the young ones in the clan, so this should be an honorary title.

  I also think we made the shortbeards too weak. They are no good in CC, so you cant use them for that. With only 25 cm range they also have a hard time to get close enough to the enemy. I suggest we give them lasguns with 50 cm range. Come to think of it, its only natural that the Shortbeards gets training in the standard infantryweapon of their army.

  We have heard some complains on this list that the shortbeards are too cheap, so this way we can justify to up their price some. With 50 cm range, the formula give us a new price of 500 for the company. The detatchments stays at 150. I suggest we do this.
