Sorry to anyone who got a half-done message from me, but that's what happens
when your hand slips and you accidentally send the message before its
completed. Sorry. Now what I was trying to say was:

If you had a REALLY high powered laser with a contact point on the target
bigger than a pin-point, then the sudden transferral of energy to the target
could cause it to over-heat and explode,therefore blasting appart but not
causing a thermonuclear explosion (although one design of nuclear fusion
reactor does use lasers to fuse hydrogen attoms together). The laser would
have to be pretty high-powered, though.
