The award of Hero of the Day has to go to Ork Warlord Thag, in command
of Mega Gargant Smash. During the battle, the Smash paired off with
the Imperial Emperor Class Titan Redemption. Both mighty machines
had lost their shields to heavy fire from the various tanks and infantry.
When the two mighty unshielded giants squared off at each other the
entire field knew the combat was about to be decided.

Redemption had started the turn by rolling for MAX plasma counters! Things
looked bad for Smash, indeed. Thag must have seen the increase in
Redemption's reactor temperature and been given pause, for Redemption
was able to fire first. A full salvo of fire smashed into the doomed
Smash, penetrating its armour time and again. Weapons and gunnery
decks were blown asunder and numerous fires were started. Still, the
Smash stood firm. Slowly, battling fires and straining to see through
billows of black smoke, the gretchin brought the Smash's own weapons
to bear. When the remaining Ork guns fired in return, the ground shook
indeed.

Unfortunately, the mighty weapons of Smash had no effect upon Redempion.
Mega Cannon, Cruz Missles, Deth Rays, and rack upon rack of secondary
weapons all bounced off the Imperial armor without leaving a scratch.
The Redemption could almost be heard to laugh.

Annoyed at how his mighty machine had been humbled, Thag drew his sidearm
and fired at Redemption (Just to let tha bleedin 'ummies know they is
messin wit' THAG! by Gud.) The 9mm projectile passed into the barrel
of Redemptions Main Battery, destroyed the weapon, and set of a series
of chain reaction explosions that shattered the titan. The mighty
Redemption toppled to the ground, a wrecked hulk that would never
see combat again.

Thag was carried from the battle on the shoulders of his Krew. His fame
spread throughout all Ordom, and he rose to high positions within
their Kultur. That the rest of his waagh was driven from the field, or
that the Smash succombed to its fires a turn later, was totally beside
the point.

I regret only that I was the commander of the Imperials.
