Actually, I don't think veterans are that much more difficult to kill than
normal marines. If they are, it is not enough to be signifigant in game
terms. I would not give them any benefit in this direction. It just isn't
worth it. (what is the actualy diffrences in stats between a vet and
marine? I think the vets just have WS and Bs equal to 5)
They have the same stats as Terminators and Veteran Sgt.s
I looked up the diffrence. Vets have +1 WS, BS and Ld on a normal marine.
Here are the effect of the diffrences as I see them.
+1 Ws
Not much of an effect in epic terms. I don't think they can have devestator
squads, so this just
makes them better with bolters and no matter how good you shoot with a
bolter, it;s not much
on epic scale. I'd just ignore this
+1 Ld.
They are marines, they're not going to run. Basicly this doesn't do much.
Even normal marines never fail LD tests. Actaully, no-one failes LD in 40K.
Any race can provide enough guys with good LD so that no model actually has
to use their own value for LD tests. Again, with the shaken rules, does't
do much.
+1Ws.
Not much effect here either. Id' give them a +1AF from this though. since
they are all now the
equivilent (about) of a hero level character in H-t-H(cept less attacks).
Also they have access go
good assault weapons to I think.
