 W.W.II were painful and astronomical. When the Germans invaded they moved
 intire cities and factories out of the way to the west.)

Russian sacrifices were great. BUT due to the political systems envolved
U.S./British/German/Japanese troops were arguably better trained. (hense
russian=i.g. "cheap" troops) The gruops who could ill afford heavy losses
were Germans, Japanese, British in that order. The U.S. and Russian were not
short on manpower.
