[Epic] [E40K] Battle Report Teaser
On the fringes of the Eye of Terror spins the planet of Plaiditius II, so
named because of the mysterious plaid patterns covering the ground. A Space
Marine contingent of the Primer Legion, hearing that a Chaos Warhost is
gathering on the planet, has decided to investigate the situation. Perhaps
they can even stop the warhost before it gets off the ground.
Once the Techno Magi have spread the Holy Unguents over the Scout Drop
Pods (actually hollowed meteors), the first Space Marines to set foot on
the planet in thousands of years hurtle towards the surface.
Days of tension follow as coded Runes stream up towards the waiting ships.
The situation is worse than originally thought; Demons are roaming the
planet's surface unhindered, ripples of corruption and insanity following
in their wake. To make it worse, the Primer Legion's nemesis is on the
Plaiditius: the Wash Legion (former Primer Legion marines, they have bathed
in the blue pools of Inkus).
Just as the on-planet Scout captain is collating the final numbers and
movements, they are discovered! As the future Marines sell their lives
dearly holding off the Plague Bearers and Blood Hounds, Brother-Captain
Flagelentus guns down a Chaos Biker. The information must be taken to the
hidden transmitter, or all is lost in vain!
The Emperor must have his eye on Flagelentus, for the Abomination's Bike
is unharmed. Tears of frustration come to his eye unbidden as his charges
die to the man protecting his retreat, but his heart swells with a fierce
pride; none failed the Chapter!
He sets off across the Dust Wastes, hoping that the swirling storms will
hide him from the gaze of the damned, but his plan backfires. The dust
clogs the air intake valves of the poorly repaired bike, and it soon grinds
to a halt. Flagelentus coasts to the bottom of a hill, where he finds some
ruined buildings to shelter in. He surveys his surroundings: a small
settlement nestled in a valley with hills situated slightly counter
clockwise from the cardinal compass points, four in all. No doubt whatever
lost civilization settled here found it a paradise, before the Warp Storms
came...
But Flagelentus realized he had no time for idle musings now. He set his
distress beacon on the crest of the hill NNE of his position, then hunkered
down in the ruins in the center of the valley. If his compatriots,
searching for him in the white noise of the dust storm, could not find him
before the Wash Legion did, this whole sector of space could be doomed!
