The test were more to see what would happen around the nuclear decive.

this, They took a whole bunch of retired shipsp from pre WWI and
denjotated nukesd around them. There is an old 1950's book about it that
shows some nice pictures, a water mushroom cloud and a battleship, one of
the old huge buggers. The thing looks like a fly compared to the mushroom
cloud
