I always felt that second ed. was very immature, there were too many
loopholes, and it seemed to be geared towards a much younger crowd. I
think for individual squad detail, the first edition was a better game,
it was just too slow. I liked having a list of weapons and firing them
instead of unique stats for each vehicle.
I have to say though. I think E40K is the best release. Armmies still
maintain a lot of there identity, which is what was thought lost with
this game. The game mechanics are a lot more solid, and the game makes
more sense, and is EXTREMELY fast (I played two fair sized games in 5
hours the other day, with two different armies and different board layout.)
My only gripe with E40K is the lack of background supplied, I think the
lads at GW seem to forget that not everyone knows the 40k universe as
well as some of us...
