Alun,

Your logic is sound. However, since you can upgrade everyone in the
Journal Squat army to be a veteran, which ends up with exactly the same
stats as your version... why not just use that?

As far as the bike guild goes, just add the option to the hearthguard
for the Stronghold Detachment that is already in the Stronghold Lord
detachment:

Upgrade to a bike unit (Free)

Even better, just have your opponents agree to allow you to put the
normal Guild Bike Squadron (1-5 bike units, 10 pts per unit) in the main
force section of the Stronghold Detachment list. That would be
consistent with the Space Marine and Eldar lists (the analogy being
bikes/jet bikes/guild bikes in main force and attack bikes/guild
trikes/vyper jet bikes in support).

Remember the Space Marine Chapters article? In that one they
specifically suggest that people customize their armies by altering the
existing list. You've got backup in WD, just tell your opponents that
your stronghold has an unusually large force of guild bikers.
