A unit is never *required* to retreat, it is *allowed* to retreat. Any
unit on the losing end of a firefight that is still within 15cm of any
enemy unit is destroyed, generally you retreat to avoid this.

In your case, only one unit of the losing detachment was within 15cm
of the enemy, and it was killed in the firefight. Thus all remaining
units in the losing detachment are safe to sit right where they are.
If they were close enought to be captured, they would have been in
the firefight in the first place.
