Bonjour Carl, ook Gooie Middag. Vlaams or Wallonaise?
My French is only just worse than my Dutch, but I can understand both.

I wish there was such a site: I'm saving up for a decent digital Camera,
or altenately a card that will frame-capture from my CamCorder, then
maybe I can help.

Anyway, onto SM/Epic - THE HISTORY. && indicates miniatures with set

&& First there was ADEPTUS TITANICUS (AT). This was a game of Titans
fighting other Titans during "The Rebellion". A large (E40K-sized) boxed
game, containing from memory 6 plastic "Turtleback" Warlords, plus
fairly awful looking styrofoam buildings.

&& Then came SPACE MARINE (1st edition, also known as SM1). This was an
add-on to AT, and gave rules for infantry, tanks etc, both fighting each
other and mixed with Titans. The Rebellion was now fleshed out as the
Horus Heresy. Also E-40K sized boxed. Contained vast quantities of (old
style) Rhinos, Land Raiders, and Tactical Space Marines. Also some neat
flags and neater buildings.

Next came CODEX TITANICUS (CT). Basically, this added Eldar, Orks,
Squats etc to the (previously Space Marine and Warhound Titans Only)
game. A small boxed game add-on.

During this time there were a large number of White Dwarf articles
adding more and more troops and vehicles, some of which were collected
and put into CT.

------Here Ends SM1--------

&& Next came EPIC SPACE MARINE (usually known as 2nd edition or SM2).
This completely changed all the rules, and simplified the game
enormously. Again, E40K sized box. Orks with wheeled Battlewagons, Eldar
with "Flying Wedge" Falcons and Marines with Rhinos and old-style Land
Raiders. Good buildings (not quite as nice as SM1, but very nearly as
good)

A number of supplements were made for SM2. Again, there were a large
number of White Dwarf articles that were collected into other
supplements. The supplements were (in order of appearance)

ARMIES OF THE IMPERIUM (AOI). Detailed Imperial Guard, and some new
Space Marine stuff. Small box.

WARLORDS. Orks and Squats. Small Box.

RENEGADES. Chaos and Eldar. Small Box.

SPACE MARINE BATTLES (SMB). Unlike the others, this wasn't a boxed set
with army cards, but a book (with a few cards/new units in it, mainly
for Chaos)

&& Now came the equivalent of Codex Titanicus, TITAN LEGIONS. Large
(E40K) sized box. Had rules for Imperator Titans, Mega Gargants, and
Tech Guard/ Knights and had in 2 booklets all the rules from the other
sets and supplements, pretty near. But basically a re-hash. Contained an
Imperator, 2 MegaGargants, some plastic Knights and Plastic Ork
Battlewagons (identical to the roller sprue for E40K). Plus some card
buildings that would be really good if they were more solid, but look
just too flimsy.

HIVE WAR. The final boxed supplement, Tyrannids only.

There were, during this period, a number of Citadel Journal articles,
few of which IMHO were any good.

------------------Here Ends SM2-------------------

EPIC 40,000. The new Epic, completely re-done and simplified (where have
you heard that before?). Excellent ruined buildings, new plastic sprues
with more variety in figures. But only about half as many, and the new
sprues contain many of the older figs.

Excellent background reading is:

ROGUE TRADER: Warhammer 40,000 (also known as RT, WH40K 1st edition, and
Rouge Trader).

BOOK OF THE ASTRONOMICON. For RT I've never seen this, it's so rare.

WAARGH! THE ORKS. RT Ork background

ERE WE GO. RT Ork units, peculiar weapons, and background.

FREEBOOTERZ. Guess what? More RT Orkiness.

Space Marine.
Deathwing.
Inquisitor.
Harlequin.
Chaos Child.
(and at least one other whose name I forget)
Novels and Short Stories set in the WH40K Universe.

Quote from HARLEQUIN (detailing symptoms of Slaaneshi Chaos
Infiltration)

"Signs of Laxity were everywhere: in the continuing beautification of
the cities with mosaics and fountains, in charity towards beggars, in
the ever-rising standards of cuisine, in the abolition of laws allowing
the torturing of suspects...."
