Actually, no, that's not the case at all. Ultramarine geneseed was used
for so many chapters because the Ultramarines were barely involved in
the fight against Horus. They were the reinforcements that were coming,
that might have forced Horus' hand. True, they lost a lot of people in
the fighting to reclaim worlds afterworld, but *nothing* like what other
chapters suffered. So, they had a disproportionately high number of
marines that got split into additional chapters.

I'm not sure if they've lost the function of an organ or not; I'm pretty
sure a few of the founding chapters have, but I can't find the source at
the moment.
