Ok, here goes with yet another long posting about army lists. All of
this will be on the E41K web site
http://www.spellbooksoftware.com/e41K/index.htm real soon now. (If I am
lucky about when you read this, if not check back later today)

The Imperial Guard in the Horus Heresy

During the Horus Heresy the largest permanent level for the Imperial
Guard was the Regiment. Unlike the Space Marines, the IG had a some
what looser set of rules on what a Regiment was made up of. Each
regiment was made up of 2-5 battalions, each of 2-5 companies, plus
battalion and regimental level support detachments. Each company was
made up of up to 4 platoons.

One aspect of the E30K IG detachment layout that differs from the
current (i.e. post Age of Apostasy) IG is the ratio of commander to
troop units, which in the current era is no more than 1:3, could go as
high as 1:8 in some cases.

A major difference between the guard and the Space Marines is the
allocation of platoons within the regiment. While a given Space Marine
platoon can fill any slot within the regiment, Imperial Guard platoons
can only fill a limited number of slots with in the regiment.

Regimental Level:

Regimental HQ.
1 Baneblade -- 145 points - This has the "Commander" Special
ability. It is NOT a "Hero"
Up to 8 of the following platoons
Heavy Armor Platoon
2 Shadowsword or Baneblade SHV 220 pts
Siege Artillery Platoon
    3 Siege Artillery --162 pts
Artillery Platoon
    3 Heavy Artillery -- 123 pts
Armor Support Platoon
    3 Gorgon AVE -- 78 pts

The Regimental support detachments may be taken as one detachment (which
is what the cost is based on) or may be split into as many E40K
detachments as the owner wants with the following limits.

1) The HQ tank must have at least one platoon as part of it's
detachment.
2) Platoons may not be split up.
3) Each detachment formed must add 25 points to the total cost
4) Chain of command is: Heavy Armor -> Gorgons -> Siege Artillery ->
Artillery

Each regiment has at least 2 battalions. Each battalion can be either a
"Guard" or a "Kataphract" battalion. To use any regimental level assets
you must deploy at least one "full" battalion of at least 2 companies.

Guard Battalions
A Guard battalion is the Battalion Commander, up to 4 battalion support
platoons, the optional transport pool and at least 2 line companies.

count against the transport pool.

Each battalion has at least 2 companies each of a command element and up

in their own companies. A Rough Rider company would have a Rough Rider
command element and up to 4 rough rider platoons. A bike company would
