I'll try to help...

First off, superheavy tanks (even Eldar) do not automatically roll on
the crit table when you get a hit. Only Eldar titans do that. From
your description it sounded like you were rolling crits for each hit.

The critical damage indicates the amount of damage (in addition to the 1
point caused by the hit) that your tank takes. If the result 7-12
indicates a catastrophic damage roll, it means that the tank is toast.
The catastrophic damage table just shows how it dies. If the result
reads 'destroyed' your opponent gets to add half the morale value of the
tank to his morale (it's encouraging to see a big enemy vehicle explode
spectacularly).
